Also I like to listen to Ron Paul speeches and tv interviews which are for the most part audio only but you can't find them in an audio only format they are only on youtube.
Also there is stuff like TED talks which tend to be 85% audio requiring you only to look at the phone occasionally.

How about just a little checkbox somewhere in the ui that says "temporarily disable video pausing when task switching" that is left unchecked by default.
Another thing that comes to mind is presidential debates.
