And if you buy WP7, you're still putting money in Microsoft's pocket. Only iOS really is free from that aforementioned cycle of money to Microsoft. Well that and the one I don't consider a personal option - Symbian.
I wasn't asking for another response to that part of my post.
But since you've decided to address it again...
I think you misunderstood my OP. I will be supporting MS directly eventually.
But not until I've backed Meltemi (N9), & Android (SNP).
Then it's a toss-up between iOS (iP6) or WP (?)...
Unless something more concrete starts to hit the headlines for Tizen.
Then it'll jump ahead of those two....

I realise N9/Android leads to some money going back to MS, but not to the same degree.
It's about offering more solid support to the platforms I first mentioned.
Buy paying the vendors directly, & then getting involved in the community etc.

blurb about MS not having a hand in anything
I totally disagree there. MS most def. had a hand to play.
Just look at their track-record, it's not at all rosy when it comes to open-source.
I know the situation we find ourselves in is mostly due to yrs of incompetence by Nokia.
But MS stepped-in at the right time to exploit that, as they've done w/other OSS stuff over the yrs.
They've changed their tone somewhat in recent years...
And even started dabbling in some F/OSS themselves, but there's still amends to be made.
If you don't mind...
I'd rather not debate along these lines any more, I want to focus on more interesting stuff

Pertaining Mexico, after confirming (crap, I need to update that other thread) that EN-US from the user there as well as via w00t here at TMO will not indeed cost extra, the 64gb is still not even showing up in their lists. The standing offer for a 16gb Black still stands, still at the same price. But those dudes are sorta in the dark still by Nokia. They're not happy about that.
And they do not have huge numbers in Mexico, when the interest picked up on it, my friend sorta panicked and has been trying to get the 64gb information as soon as he could.
Now this is the only response I was trying to get!!!
Sorry to hear that. Well, if things start to get really dire.
I may consider helping people get some from here (Australia).
