the BOM for an N9 should be very similar to the LG Optimus Black P970, and that is around £300 sim-free rather than £450.
It's far from being as simple as that. You need to dissect it way more.
So you're saying it should be the same price as a ph that's been out for at least 4mth?
And uses an OS that the vendor's put tiny amts of $/time into compared to Nokia?

Besides, apart from CPU/GPU it doesn't measure up on specs at all:

IPS LCD? At that pixel density who cares, CBD AMOLED's a way better option.
Just to mention one thing... And compared to the SGSII...

-N9 Screen
Higher pixel density.
Brighter
Better in higher light environments
Arguably better aspect ratio
Most who've compared both screens, actually prefer the N9's, despite SGSII's touted "super" & "+"
-64GB
SGSII can take greater than 32GB mSDXC, but SD3.0 support isn't there, so you'll have to format to fat32 & fall back to class10(?) mSDHC.
So you may as well buy mSDHC which doesn't follow spec above 32GB, but I believe can still go up to about 64GB. Beyond that it's mSDXC at crazy prices.
-BT4.0
-NFC (& various applications around that, except secure payments)
-Prolly missing something
Think SGSII may support these too:
-802.11A (no HDMI/MHL but that's what this is for, DLNA daemon/server there, GUI still coming)
-FMRX/RDS (possibly FMTX, looking unlikely)

It remains to be seen what areas the GPU/CPU subsystem offer huge advantages...
As far as we've been able to tell so far, it's really only in games & 1080 vid out/recording.
But the latter two may be hacked-in anyway, time will tell (t'will be quite resource heavy of course).
You can't just say: "Oh, it has a beefier CPU/GPU, so it's win", they're totally different software stacks.

Camera on SGSII seems better, just, but that's still up for debate.
On raw specs the N9 should be as good, or slightly better.*
So it may simply be that some sw twks are needed, remember the SGSII has been on the market for 6mth+

Plus there's still plenty of movement in price to be had...
For freaks sake the thing has only been out for about 5-days here!
The 64GB's already at parity with the SGSII where I am, dunno about the rest of the world.

*except that the senor it uses may be slightly older (but more mature) tech, so this may be the reason for the poorer perf, YTBC.
