Even with the TV out, you will still get a stretched and pixelated 800x480 out on your 1920X1080 screen (3.5mm jack does not support HD out) and of course none of the digital multichannel sounds (3.5mm jack does not support Dolby or DTS out either)

With 480p videos you get 6 times as many movies in your storage, as 480p videos are a 6th the size, and exactly the same quality on our 800X480 displays

So... you are leading your device to a very probable reflash or worse, for a chance to achieve absolutely nothing?
What is missing in your statement is video recording above 848x480 (DVD and HD resolutions). And it is not only 720p playback, those codecs allow you to watch video profiles not supported in stock codecs. Anyway, I am not pushing anyone to use this, it is a matter of choice.

BTW my 42'' plasma is 848x480 physical resolution but has hdmi input. Once I've tried that input to watch BD rip 1080p and was impressed by the quality of the picture. It is not only the pixel count that matters, trust me on that.
