If You *really* can't do something using microB (BTW, could You be more specific, what exactly doesn't work?), I would recommend using Iceweasel (firefox) via Easy Debian. Also, if you're connecting through network that You can't trust fully, ssh'ing to your home computer (particularly, any trusted machine, connected to trusted network), and forwarding all connection through tunnel, may be sane thing to do. Just remember to edit ssh client configuration on N900 - it defaults to set *-cbc algorithms at higher priority than ctr, unlike current versions of upstream ssh. cbc was somewhat compromised in 2009 (it's not easy to crack it, but possible with enough effort).
