This is really weird.
Another workaround that seems to work everytime: CTRL+O twice to switch to the shell and back. You could also use CTRL+M for enter, but this is far less comfortable.

BTW, this enter problem seems to happen only on pre-CSSU phones, any idea what might be the reason?
