Even though I get the feeling that you take joy in being negative, I can tell you that much: text input will not stay "fundamentally broken", as you like to put it. If you could be bothered to listen and understand the implications of some technical arguments, I could provide them, but then again it feels like a waste of time to me.

No idea what's wrong with your display though, send the device back for inspection.
