Yes, you can copy the backup file to the PC and after that back to the phone, you will be able to restore the backup.
Flashing helps if you want a new start with the phone, or if you bricked your device.
If you flash it, it will be just like new (no user data on it).
aha ok..then updarting is sufficient for me... no need for flashing...
however, by clicking the communication in backup options, will that include the msn pecan conversations also? and will contact numbers be saved also?

besides, I was reading few minutes ago about something that is called CSSU....have any idea if it is beter than maemo 5 OS updates or it's not worthy?
