So, I'd just copied a large audio media (aac) file to the device (~280MB). All seemed OK and disconnected from pc in proper manner.

When I tried to access file using stock media player, it tried to play but no sound came out. I moved the play-from point to somewhere in the middle of the track and it jumped back to the start. All seemed a bit odd so tried with KMPlayer, which is when I got this message:

There is not enough room on the disk to save /var/tmp/Prat+TIO.exe.part
Remove unnecessary files from the disk and try again or try saving the file in a different location.

- Most peculiar message seeing as I wasn't moving any files around at that moment.
- How can this error have occurred?

KMPlayer was unable to play the file. In winxp, mplayer plays the file fine, while winamp makes a hash of it and ffmpeg has a hard time converting properly.

Not knowing what the problem was, I deleted the media file and rebooted the device. Now on attempting to copy the file, I receive another annoying message, this time in windows:

Cannot copy XXX: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

There are no references to this type of error in life time of the N900 so not sure if anyone's encountered that with this device. Has anyone had CRC with the N900? [source: winxp pc; dest: N900 (MyDocs or subfolder thereof)]

Is it possible the file-transfer has exposed a problem a little deeper than these messages at first suggest?

...ideas welcome as to what might have caused this and how it can be fixed/remedied.
