Advice: Pressing U is not necessary to flash N900.
Let Flasher wait for the N900, then connect the USB cable, it should automagically reflash.

And BTW, this will save you a few minutes if you're pretty sure you didn't mess with CMT firmware:

flasher-3.5 -F <firmware> --flash-only=kernel -f
flasher-3.5 -F <firmware> --flash-only=rootfs -f -R
