The firmware isn't officially released for all product codes, so that's probably why you're not getting a notification. Nokia Software Updater doesn't work with wine, neither does navifirm, but there is a harmattan flasher that runs natively on linux. You just need to somehow get on windows and use navifirm to download a copy of the firmware you want to flash, then flash it in linux. Very frustrating, but that's how it is.

If you can get ahold of a windows computer though, you may want to just install NSU and use that to update.

I believe so. I didn't try that specifically, but I know you could do that with previous nokia phones. I flashed firmware for a different product code with no problems, so if you can change your product code, I don't see why OTA update won't work.
