you can try opening conversations from the command line to see if it gives you errors

open terminal and type:

dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=com.nokia.HildonDesktop.AppMgr /com/nokia/HildonDesktop/AppMgr com.nokia.HildonDesktop.AppMgr.LaunchApplication string:rtcom-messaging-ui

then hit enter

but if your not sure about how you flashed the device ...flashing it again is prolly a good idea make sure you read the entire wiki before flashing it.
