I recently bought a Nova5000ex Windows ce 5.0 tablet pc, originally used for a school computer. I wanted to use it for a book reader/web browser(video watching etc).

After trying it out tho, I find it slow and the Wifi software does not seem to work(so at lest for now I am using a network cable).
I was wondering tho I read on a Google search that your version of linix supports the cpu thats in this tablet, so I was wondering if I could some how wipe the os and then install linix...(tho at this time the only thing I have figured out to change on the tablet is the windows wall paper.)
I fear it's slow because the processor is not very fast and it doesn't have much RAM. With that said porting Linux to it is a quite valid request, though I fear you underestimate the difficultly...

The processor is well supported, so that is not an issue, what will be more troublesome is working out how the flashing software works and what it flashes, though you may find that these problems have been explained in e.g. the HP iPaq Linux porting project or as mentioned by one of the posters the HP Jornada porting effort (note, however, that both of these ports were carried out by the company who manufactured the hardware and wrote the HW abstraction on which Windows CE runs.

Lacking support from the company itself you will have to probably write drivers for the hardware yourself, or at least modify them to fit. I'd encourage you to take a look at the Psion 5 Linux port to get an idea of how hard this might be: http://linux-7110.sourceforge.net/

Aside from these issues, I imagine something like OpenZaurus/Angstrom would be the best type of base system and UI to run on the device, as it was designed for devices with a similar spec to the one you're talking about: http://www.openzaurus.org/wordpress/

To be perfectly honest, while the original poster doesn't know what he's doing, it's not so far off topic that we should take this attitude IMHO.

While Maemo is tied to the hw, Meego isn't and has been ported to other devices (e.g. the Samsung Galaxy Tab which is my project). With that said, the devices it has been ported to are all (or all to my knowledge) Android devices for which Linux kernel source exists. This makes life quite a bit easier.

To sum it all up, by all means look into it, but it will be pretty difficult (but difficult things are fun, assuming you have the time to spare).

Best of luck!
