There's a billion old threads on this, but I'll sum up my point of view... Nokia probably deliberately excluded PIM functionality out of the box because they're trying to create a new class of device - - the internet tablet. Remember when Suzuki released the Sport Utility Vehicle? (Ok, it was a station wagon, but that term is now in existence).
If they included a cell radio, people would say it's a phone. If they included a PIM suite, people would say it was a PDA (or worse a Palm Pilot).
Ya didn't buy a laptop. Ya didn't buy a cell phone. Ya didn't buy a PDA. Ya bought an internet tablet.
