First of all, I am not going to get dragged into a personal exchange and name calling, but would like to make an observation regarding this and other forums.

I participate in several forums and there is usually a certain atmosphere. One where people are friendly, participate a lot, and supportive. And, the other where you are almost afraid to start a thread because some self appointed forum nazis are checking every post and jumping on the opportunity to claim "REPOST!"

A forum should be a fun, informal place where people feel free to post, comment and exchange ideas and experiences. Does a forum need to be as organized as your date book? I think not. A forum is by definition a community and if there are questions or comments posted more than once or in more than one thread, then what real harm does it do?

I enjoy my n800 and value the information that I have gleamed from this forum. My hope is that this forum will be the type of place where users, new and experienced, can participate and further their enthusiasm for the IT. If not, then I, and many others, will just lurk for info when we need it and never participate in the discussion, perhaps some would like that.

To the General, and everyone else whose eyes my fall on these words, I truly wish you a Merry Christmas.

And now, I think I will go have a Christmas cookie.
Yeah, Merry Christmas... The cookies at my place are pretty good.

Speaking from experience. There has to be some semblance of order... This ain't a forum where we recount our experiences having breakfast at Disney World with Micky and his friends. It is a place that can/should be used as a resource for the topic at hand. In this case the Internet Tablets.

BTW, what was the topic of your thread? Could you have typed it in the search tool first? If you type it in the search tool now; how much useful information would you receive?

You may be having fun but what about the next guy? The one who uses search before starting a new thread. He/she is going to see from all the garbage that is returned on that first or second page that his/her topic hasn't really been addressed. He or she will be inclined to start a new thread...

Then it's Deja Vu all over again... Nietzsche's "eternal recurrence".

The best way to stop this crap is for the regulars to ignore the redundant posts of those to inconsiderate to search... The threads will die and slither off the main page.

The forum police (and I have been called that too at times) should simply use the report post triangle found in the upper right hand corner and not add to the garbage that ends up in search results. That way maybe the moderator can close or delete the thread and/or keep it out of search results altogether.

Then maybe we could end up having a useful resource available to all.
