I think both sides have good reasons, and are quite right about their arguments. But, in my modest opinion, the iT community loses much more with these harsh replies, which just drives away new members, and possible Nxxx buyers. Not to mention that these could be the future iT supporters...
The iT community needs much more to grow than to get more and more organized, in my opinion. To whom disagrees about this, just look around and count how many forums exist about the called "iT competitors".
In the begginin of this post, i had been very interested in the topic. For me, sad that it was stopped just before anyone could post something interesting. I really appreciate sugestions for new apps, in old or new threads. And it doesn't help harsh replies.
By the way, I think 2 urgently needed software are a word processor (Abiword coming) and a good PIM, with Windows, Linux and Mac support.
Happy Christmas!
