You mean a crash during an installation within Easy Debian? If that's the case, than it doesn't seem likely the lagginess is caused by that, because you were working in a so called root-jail (chroot), a protected environment in which you can run a complete OS (e.g. Debian) as root, but never touch any of the core files of the host OS (Maemo). That's only one of the charmes of Easy Debian
I'd put my money on the "patches".
