Portrait mode is just a feature disabled by default. If you chose to use it apps can be easily blacklisted.

- I read somewhere in this forum, that switching from SSU to CSSU different set of patches will also be needed
Im not sure what you are referring to as far as "different patches" but I believe you maybe mistaken.

(so it's like abandoning stability of nokia release and truly venturing out into something new, with hard way of getting back).

- I'm affraid it can break something to a point of unusable device, and instead of using my phone I'll spend days searching how and fixing it.

Cssu users use their phone everyday reliably, including myself.

It is not hard at all to revert back from CSSU if you use backup menu. It will take a complete snapshot of your phone that can be completely restored in as little as 10 minutes.

Even if you never install CSSU I suggest you use backup menu.

- It does not fix few issues I care: ie: http proxy support in media player or http proxy in build in im-protocols (gtalk, gg)

gtalk (idk about gg) and media player are closed source and cannot be modified. This is why Open Media Player was made, an exact clone of the existing media player. IDK if proxy support was fixed, it is not something I use.

you can see the first post for verbose explanations of what was fixed. The link above is for new features not bug fixes.
