You don't need to reboot...
Ugly solution...
1. Check if: Setting -> Time and language -> Text input -> Error correction -> is ON
2. Don't deactivate regular english vkb...
3. Start your document (message, note....) when the regular vkb is first...

The alpha-numeric vkb have portrait and landscape mods (landscape like in regular vkb), but it's the same file, I don't know why the predictive text not work in this vkb's...
