This is awesome.
Being a ham radio operator, I've been using APRS ( http://aprs.net ) for a few years. APRS is doing the same thing, but over ham radio bands.
Now that you've got this to work, it's a great step towards some mobile location based apps, thanks to a two-way internet!
What are you using for the software? Is it a custome script of some sorts?
