Thanks to Rick and others for offering their opinions on the MD5Sum issue. I actually called Nokia and I walked a third tier tech through the issue. He contacted the repo admin he fixed up the mismatch and he did all this on Christmas Day! Now that's what I call service!

Mind you, I had to convince a first tier support agent, a second tier support agent and an agent supervisor that my N800 was not broken and indeed did NOT need to sent to them, at my expense, for repair and I had to convince all three that the problem lay with Nokia and not user error. What a bloody nightmare.
