If you're using the swype keyboard, you can swipe the swype () key from left to right and the directional arrows and other functions will appear.

Another alternative is to tap down on the text area and hold until the magnifying glass pops up, at which point you navigate to the area you want to fix. Infinitely easier than trying to tap the exact spot.
