MiniSD is a smaller card than traditional SD as you can see. There are adapters like the one you used to make it work in the N800. Not sure why Nokia wanted to use a MiniSD as it already has SD/SDHC anyway... maybe to give a cheap "freebee" as 128MB cards are not even made in SD format anymore and boost the specs of the device in advertising. MiniSD is commonly used in cell phones as it's physically smaller so shrinking the overall size of phones.

$45 for a 8GB SDHC seams like a great price. I think it said 12.5mb's of read and write speed. I don't even know what the speeds of my 1GB SD card are.
I use a 4GB on the internal slot and a 1GB in the external. I like having the larger card "live" in the device while being able to use cheaper 1 GB cards in the easier to access slot for movies and pix. You've got the right idea :0)
That IS a great price on an 8GB BTW!

Ah, you'll get used to it. I may be a geek, but there are times I need to look for info too. I think I've had mine for a week? YRMV, but most people new to the device get along after a short period of adjustment. Plus you'll be more accepting of a Linux PC when Windows dies a horrible, flaming death!
