I think the primary objection here is not that etiquette should not be observed, but more that those attempting to encourage it are being jerks hugely out of proportion to the perceived infractions. Someone earlier likened it to not wiping one's feet before entering another's home. That is true, but had a person entered without wiping and Technut responded by making some snide, sarcastic, self-righteous comment (as he did here), he should expect to be called a ***** (and worse).

Etiquette is a two way street. It seems as though some here need to be reminded of that.
