Just to make it clear, the answer to the original comment of this thread:

GPE Calendar doesn't add a permanent icon to the Application Launcher sidebar. It just remains open (but minimized) when the [X] (Close) button is tapped. (This, imho, is a long-running and never-fixed bug.) To Close GPE Calendar, tap the Application menu and choose Close.

Now, if we could customize the Application Launcher, I'd like to see it work like the sidebar in Quiver Image Viewer: with a kinetic scrolling, looping menu-set (i.e., add as many apps as you'd like and scroll through them by finger-tapping/dragging vertically, up or down). That would be sweet!
