I know it wins a n900 last year, but don't forget I've donated that phone cause I didn't have the money to cover the shipment.
It's all about the release date CepiPerez, you'll remember from last time :| It has to fall within the competition timeline to be eligible. If you release updates for flowplayer during the competition dates then they're eligible else if they are released before the competition starts then it's bad luck I'm afraid Hope you can try find it as motivation to release some more updates or write something new when the competition starts for real next week As a winner from last time, we want you back in the competition to defend your crown

I don't think we've ever mentioned it in the two (coming three) years we've been running the competition, I don't think we've ever really had to. The community competition reflects the community we have. That's why we have a community vote, so that the users can decide what is the most important thing to them. They can decide which application they appreciate most on it's own merits.

Now, as maemo.org/intro will tell you:

Maemo Community is an open source community developing software around the Maemo platform.
However that doesn't mean everyone who is a member here is an open source advocate. From the previous two coding competitions, I can remember maybe one entry which was closed source from the original competition. I don't think anyone even brought it up or cared to be honest. Those who liked and appreciated the application voted for it, those who didn't voted for something else they preferred.

We're quite liberal in how we facilitate the competition, taking a view to get as many applications as we can in and trusting the community to decide how they rank the entrants. I'm very happy to let our community of users decide which applications they feel are most valuable, with pretty much whatever criteria they choose to apply. It's a coding competition, but let's not kid ourselves that everyone is going to delve into the code of each application. If you want me to explicitly state a restriction to open source in the rules I can do that. Although being mindful it could potentially put off closed source developers from taking an interest, I'm not convinced there's many out there interested in Maemo/MeeGo Harmattan platforms to ruffle any feathers
