Exactly. Hopefully user outrage will finally encourage developers to upload things to extras where, if the user requires additional dependencies, they can also be found.

Nokia have appeared reluctant to take a lead on this due to not wanting to "impose" order and limit people's options. However, there's a strong argument that the next release should make it *much* harder to add third party repositories, enable extras by default and make extras-devel available but disabled.

An auto-build system like mud-builder should then be responsible for building all the packages in extras and developers should expect pain, gnashing of teeth and wailing if they release sub-standard packages.
