I think for a phone, the Pantech Vega S5 is the ideal size.
It's got no bezels, so its in the frame of 4.3in phones.... and it uses on-screen buttons (a la Gnex) so its even smaller.

But for the larger handed people, and those that don't wear skinnies... we are niche and we prefer SG NOTE sized (make extra use of that screen estate).
