Sometimes the HildonApplicationManager database seems to get corrupted.
Often a reboot resets things. You might want to install rootsh for root access to correct this from X-Terminal

dpkg --clear-avail
apt-get update
. There is also the more robust FasterApplicationManager as a GUI-application.
