Whatever you do to change it - there is no way to change the battery, same thing with the IPhone or the Lumia series.
N9 battery can be changed. There are some beautiful videos on YouTube on how to do this.

The iPhone 2G can be changed but it's better left in the hands of a professional due to the way the wires are glued AND soldered to pads which are held to the mobo by nearly microscopic wires.

In any case, it may bug some of our OCD nature to not see the battery at 100%, but as several others have pointed out, it's better to charge to 95% to have the battery last longer, and even when the battery does go to 100%, it's just a matter of time before the charge falls to 99...98...97...96...

@ Muzimak = my N9 is pretty particular about cables. I have found that some cables will pass MUCH more current to the phone than others. I have a particularly short cable that came with one of those portable battery chargers (from... NewTrent) that works best.
