I've the same problem since PR1.3. Digging through the qml-files of the app shows that the problem seems to be in the "DownloadManager". However, that is implemented in Qt/C++-code which of course isn't available. Too bad this isn't open source, as the fix might have been easy.
I've also noticed the app calls back home, for usage-tracking purposes, but the domain

doesn't respond...
