The $$$ Tools can be more affordable than someone can think.
For example search info/videos about Tornado Soldering Station V2

The main problems are skill needed and spare parts.

For N900's nand is more difficult than eMMC because Nand (and Ram togheter) is a PoP chip.
But it remains theoretically feasible.

I have suggested it on : http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=133

I know (by internet) a company specialized on replacing Omap Soc and their PoP chip on existing Arm Board.

The main problems are:
  • How much money they want for doing the job ?
  • Newer PoP chips (up to 2GB ram with up to 4GB Nand) are pin compatible with one used on N900 ?
  • Newer PoP chips are available in small quantity ?
  • Omap 3430 used on N900 has max values for ram and Nand supported ?
And what are these values ?

Furthermore in this thread we are OT
