If you'll see something like this:

tar: usr/share/doc/libncurses5: Cannot create symlink to `libtinfo5': File exists
tar: usr/share/doc/libncursesw5: Cannot create symlink to `libtinfo5': File exists
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
That means you've left files on the partition and selected only the partition, not the whole device for installation.
