And yeah, this circles back to the point I've been wanting to make. Device X comes out, has amazing capabilities! Does everything you want! Can't be beaten!

Device Y comes out. Suddenly, device X has mediocre capabilities! Does nothing you want! Is obsolete!

The N900 did everything I wanted when I bought it. It didn't suddenly stop doing everything I wanted when the iPhone 4S came out. It still hasn't stopped doing everything I wanted today. And I will bet you, when the sun rises tomorrow morning, the N900 will still be doing everything I want.

Yeah, it's sad that Nokia itself is slowly going under, and has stopped producing any successors to the N900. And yeah, it's nice that if you take an iPhone, hack up its OS sufficiently, and throw enough external keyboards and dongles and gee-gaws on to it, you can create a device that works sorta like an N900. But I see no reason to give up mine just yet.
