It is very frustrating on the n810 and n800 to only have 256 MB of program storage, even with the inclusion of the 2 GB onboard, as the 2 GB is FAT formatted. I think that is one of the main reasons that people clone their OS to SD and boot from that instead. I've hit the wall a few times and it is frustrating. At the same time, I see Nokia's desire to have the NITs act a USB mass storage when plugged into a Windows/Mac box.
I am really hoping the next NIT has more ram and flash and a return to full size SDHC slot(s) or at least Micro instead of Mini Slots.
BTW, if you were thinking about just using a soldering iron and slapping some higher capacity chips in place, don't bother. You need access to expensive surface mount rework equipment, higher density pin compatible chips to replace the ones you remove and there are probably software changes that would need to take place as well. There is one company I know of that specializes in doing this sort of thing. They are called Pocket PC Techs and used to do a lot of ram and flash upgrades on Win CE PDAs.
