Open terminal and type:
/opt/waxmppplugin/bin/wazapp/wazapp_init

You will get a lot of debug, just find something like this when a message is received.
This is all I need:
Those two lines should have the same ringtone file
Please check if this file exists (it should)
Also, make sure to reboot the phone after installing wazapp
