the IMEI number is like the DNA or maybe the backbone of a mobile phone (GSM module, in fact)
as you noticed yourself, once that is gone not much is working any more
  • if you pull out the SIM "slot" / card holder & remove the SIM, is the IMEI visible there?
  • are you located in an area where N9 is/was officially sold?
  • do you have proof of (original) purchase? (not really needed, but nice to have...)
if so, bringing it to NOKIA care centre is probably your best shot
