Hey PinCushionQueen, I have a question for you. I managed to disable the feature you describe above from my taskbar somehow. I think I might have 'locked' the taskbar with a wayward tap, but honestly I am not sure anymore. What I do know is that the vertical line and arrow are no long present and I am unable to add applets or applications to the taskbar.

Do you know how to fix this? PB suggested it's a right-click on the taskbar which I can try with VNC, but honestly I haven't had the time to do that yet. I was hoping ther'd be an easier 'fix'. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
