Yes, but you can't use/see (apps 5-9) them before you close some of those running apps (1-4 which you can see).
I think for 99% of the people showing more than 4 apps is useless, at least when the browser has tabs. Its important that they continue to run in the background though, so you can quickly "launch" them by icon.

The animations when swiping and opening apps are sooooo weird. They should definitely work on that. Also I hope they can present a real app next time .
