Well, try to boot the device to maintanance mode.
There are at least 2 ways to do that.
1.

With this you can boot the device in such a mode that it will offer the mouns for mmcblk0p* partitions to an external computer and examine possible problems
2.
https://toosa.swagman.org/svn/sillykbd/TRUNK/moslo
With this you can boot the device in single-user mode where you can telnet into it and manually mount/examine the filesystems quite freely
