In your N900: Settings (of the phone) -> Certificate Manager look for the Go Daddy Root Certificate Authoritiy - G2 (that's the one Whatsapp uses). Is it there? Does it say "Certificate not currently valid" or something? (it can't be it expires in the year 2037).

you will laugh at how small the problem was
it did say "Certificate not Currently valid" "check date and time"

I had totally forgotten that I hadn't set the date and time after a quick sim change and back a few days ago(I do that when i'm in a hurry :P) and updated yappari to v0.0.26

so I changed it back to the correct date n time..pressed "sync now" and voila!!! Yappari had all my contacts in the contact list

I am still surprised at how something as small as setting correct date and time can lead to all this

I knew I should have never doubted your yappari/my n900

Hey btw the only other problem I have is that yappari doesn't show the contact picture (the ones I've assigned myself in the default contacts app on n900)
You'd mentioned in an earlier post that yappari shows contact pic since v0.0.17
but mine hasn't..in any of the versions

Edit : The contact pics appear in the yappari contact list..but not in the chat log view.
