The reboot usually happens at the point where APT is hung and the screen isn't responding much. If this part takes too long, the phone reboots.

By FUBAR I mean "fouled up beyond all recognition" - the Debian partition is toast. I can't install more packages because of broken files, running e2fsck breaks most apps already installed. And I have to restore from backup each time.
It seems that problem with swap, like when you mv or cp big files. You may want do some search about that.
