We need to create some additional revenue streams for Hildon Foundation and one of the things we're doing is opening up an ovi store account in the Foundation's name and publish some apps.

The rationale behind this is as the store has extensive carrier billing support which will enable people that do not have paypal, bank accounts or other means of contributing to donate to the foundation. The downside is the high fees that Nokia chargers but it will be clear that this is a means for donating if nothing else is available.

The first app to be published will be the tmo forum reader, currently maintained by bibek who has agreed to publish it on behalf of HiFo. (Thanks bibek!)

Unfortunately however this app cannot be published for N900 as the N900 ovi store requires apps built against stock N900 PR1.3 with no dependencies.

So we are in need of an application with only an icon pointing to tmo or wiki, or something generic, relevant to this community (mwkn reader perhaps) built against stock PR1.3 with no dependencies to anything outside the system. Of course bigger applications are welcome and can be later added to the account if they are in line with the foundation's purpose.

If anybody would like to take this up please contact council@maemo.org

All apps will of course be opensource and available from this site or the repos along with the store.

Regards,

Michael
on behalf of the Community Council

Edit:

Are you a developer from the Americas? Do you have paid apps on ovi? We have two questions for you.

1. From what country do you receive Nokia payments? Finland?
2. Are there fees (for money transfer) on top of the 30% Nokia charges

Thanks
