Well you use the flasher to load RescueOS in RAM, you don't actually flash anything

i need help on installing a virtual machine with linux on my windows xp
I would say go for the virtual SDK image, its pre-made and ready for direct usage however I can't find it with current repo-mess/migration. thedead1440, or anyone can help him out with that one?

Also you could use instead of a virtual machine a linuxlivecd (ubuntu) burn it on a usb or CD (use google for that) and boot from usb/CD: Download the flasher .deb -> Install -> Load RescueOS

A tip: Use the sdcard for really valuable data, much more easy to retrieve after device failure. Also if your project data is on MyDocs partition you could reflash rootfs only(so NO eMMC flash (vanilla)), this will keep MyDocs intact.
