At the URL check stage, the YouTube plugin just extracts the videoID/playlistID from the URL and retrieves the details from the YouTube API. It's possible that there's an error in the regexp used to get the ID, but I've tried many URLs (with the parameters arranged differently), and they always work for me. Can you post an example URL?
