The music player thing should not be happening that way unless you have been adding/removing media between the times you open it.

Since you got it secondhand did you do a full flash i.e. rootfs+emmc?

Also you may want to take out all your media from device, reboot then add it back. Give it ~15mins if you have a lot of media to re-index and it shouldn't be showing that updating library message unnecessarily again...
