Yes, this is a pity.
You just do not get any output to check what is wrong. I went through this also (and I think sixwheeledbeast and/or others too).
You need to check manually your control file and maybe pre-/post-scripts for any possible problem Best do a diff against older working version.
Empty lines, missing backslash or whatever. For me it was that a config file needed to have an empty line at the end.
Struggled and found on my own. So good luck.
