OK, derailing the thread even further... we are running the rocky ground now but whattehehell, let's ride it So, I am not really in the know-how of the state of windows server administration today. Currently I only work with linux servers and the last time I had anything to do with windows was when NT4 was the state of the art, and back then there were not that many problems. I actually don't recall ever having had that many SW related problems, all problems that we had were traced back to broken HW and there is no OS that can survive when the HW platform under starts burning chips... Even windows servers work(ed) well when there was no possibility of letting (l)users to install junk on them. Things may have of course changed since the turn of the millenium
