@eleseur: You really know your batteries! What I would like however is to not have to use a battery (and also, potentially being able to use it with some sort of AA battery adapter).

Yeah, the bme thing I think is possible. I've seen a video in Youtube of hot battery swapping. I think you have 30 seconds before the system shuts down.

If the bme replacement could actually allow for operation without battery it would be awesome. I really think it should be possible.
