Yes and yes. If you set it a 0 you disable it and then you have to press the Download button for everything. Default is 100 KB. Maximum is 12 MB (WhatsApp maximum size of media files), and if you set it at 12 MB then Yappari will automatically download everything.

And yes, the cache directory is automatically created, but when needed, not at install.
